In this website, you will be able to view all of the rooms we have on offer, as well as our top-rated facilities such as the highly popular hot tub and summer house, which is totally unique to the area.
   
We have also listed some of the various tourist attractions and links to popular events that are on in Scotland, though if you have any questions about anything in particular, please feel free to ask us while you are here.
 

No other B&B can boast the facilities we have on offer, nor the warmest of receptions for when you arrive.

About Us

Millburn House Bed and Breakfast offers luxury accommodation with unique facilities, in a relaxing and welcoming setting.

Perfectly located in a key spot in rural Scotland, it boasts several key elements designed to ensure your stay is a memorable one.

Millburn House B&B is a beautiful 25-minute drive from the centre of Edinburgh, or 45 minutes from Glasgow. It is ideally located for access to east and west coast Scotland, the Scottish Border region, and the north of England. It is located on the Edinburgh-Biggar road (A702), the main connecting route between the M74 and the Edinburgh by-pass (A720).

Millburn House B&B is owned, run and maintained by Carol and Ian, who will warmly welcome you into their home during your stay, and ensure your visit to one of the most spectacular parts of Scotland is as friendly as it is pleasant.

This room has windows on three sides providing you with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside that can be enjoyed over a glass of complimentary malt whisky.

Coupled with the best in modern, relaxing furniture, such as the large double bed, leather settee doubling as a pull-out bed, TV with Sky, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, and large en-suite shower room, this room provides the ultimate in relaxation and enjoyment.

This room has all you will need to ensure you have a comfortable and relaxing stay with us. Complete with a modern and stylish en-suite shower room, it also has lots of storage space to help you feel more at home.

This room also comes complete with tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, a TV with DVD/Video, and a selection of top movies you can choose from and watch at your leisure. If you prefer to look at the beautiful Scottish scenery out of your window, you may also wish to enjoy the experience further with a glass of complimentary malt whisky from the decanter provided.

(Ground Floor)

Enjoy stunning views of Blackmount Hill while sipping on your complimentary glass of malt whisky in this modern, comfortable twin room.

All the decor in this room has been chosen with relaxation in mind, and it has all you would expect from a top class B&B, including ample storage space and en-suite shower room. You will also find tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, a TV with DVD/Video, and a selection of top movies you can choose from and watch at your leisure.


BREAKFAST ROOM

The breakfast room is located on the ground floor overlooking the vegetable garden. During the summer months you can enjoy your freshly cooked breakfast while enjoying the natural warmth of the sun, and in the winter, our wood-burning stove will keep you warm.

Our standard breakfast choices include:

  • a variety of healthy cereals to choose from
  • full Scottish breakfast consisting of bacon, sausages, black pudding, egg, mushrooms, tomato, and potato scone

  • scrambled egg with smoked Salmon

  • vegetarian breakfast consisting of Linda McCartney's sausages, egg, mushrooms, tomato, and potato scone

  • your choice of tea, coffee, or fruit juice

All products used in our cooking are locally produced.

LOUNGE

As a guest at Millburn House, you may make use of our lounge at any time during your stay. There are a number of board games you may choose from, or if you fancy a game of cards please take a deck.

In the winter a wood-burning stove gives off a terrific natural heat, next to which you can curl up and enjoy a good book with a wee dram.


HOT TUB

We have a hot tub available for use by all our guests. Heated to an optimum temperature with a variety of relaxing and therapeutic jets, our hot tub is situated toward the rear of our property next to our summer house with integral changing room.

Enjoy stunning views of the Scottish Borders while relaxing in the tub, or take a dip late-evening, and watch the stars come out above your eyes. This is the ultimate in relaxation, and we are proud that we are the only B&B in the area that is able to provide such elite facilities for our guests.

All bookings require a deposit to be paid at the time of booking, with the balance to be paid in cash, or in part cash-part cheque. Deposits may also be made by cheque. Millburn House is unable to accept credit cards as a form of payment.

We will be pleased to discuss discounts for extended bookings and for guests wishing to stay during the off-peak season.

Children

Please note that we are pleased to offer a children's rate of £20 per night, for children between the ages of 8 and 12. Unfortunately, we are unable to take bookings from children 7 years and under. Children 13 and over are charged at our standard adult rates.

DIRECTIONS

From the South
Leave the M74 at Abington heading for Edinburgh on the A702. You will come to the town of Biggar, which you should drive through and carry on for roughly 6 miles. Millburn House B&B sits off the A702 on the right-hand side, just before you enter Dolphinton.

From the North
Follow the A720 Edinburgh City By-pass to the Fairmliehead junction. Leave the By-pass and head south on the A702. You will drive through Carlops, West Linton, and Dolphinton. On leaving Dolphinton, Millburn House B&B is the first on the left and sits just off the road, just after the Potato Store.

IMPORTANT NOTE
The A702 is a main road and traffic can occasionally be quite fast to drive along. It is therefore requested that all our guests reduce their speed on approaching Dolphinton so as not to miss the entrance.

Should you get lost or think you have missed the turn-off, please telephone us on any of the phone numbers above and we will be happy to help you get you back on the right-road. Guests may find it useful to print this web page off to refer to in case needed. Please make sure you stop your vehicle before phoning - we would like all our guests to arrive in one piece.
